International conference Healing & Justice

18 March 2019

The conference; “Healing Journeys: The relationship between Healing and Justice,” will provide a platform to interrogate pressing questions facing the human family.

Can Healing happen when justice is deferred?

How do we improve Healing and justice work relating to Gender-based Violence and the LGBTIQ community?

How do we heal the wounds of indignity and dehumanisation caused by the injustice of poverty and inequality?

Why is Environmental Justice now more than ever before important, for the healing and survival of the human family on mother earth?

Case studies and presentations from Burundi, Uganda, Myanmar, Ecuador, Syria, Sri Lanka, Namibia, South Sudan, Germany, Zimbabwe and South Africa and more will provide the basis for conference delegates to engage with these issues.

The Institute for the Healing of Memories patron, Kirsty Sword Gusmão, an Australian-East Timorese activist who served as the First Lady of East Timor from 2002 until 2007 will officially open the conference.

24 - 26 June 2019, Cape Town, South Africa

The Institute for the Healing of Memories and partners invite individuals and organisations to apply.
Applications close on 1 May 2019.
