Healing of Memories responds to COVID 19

18 March 2020

Dear IHOM Friends,

It is a time of deep reflection for the human family. We are literally slowing down at a pace we could not possibly have imagined just a few weeks and months ago. The Institute in response to the corona-19 virus crisis has postponed the” Introduction to Healing of Memories”, International training; community dialogues; healing of memories workshops and all Restoring Humanity youth activities.

In our work, we are constantly confronted with the emotional, spiritual and psychological impact of loss. Loss of life, physical security, trust, identity, community, livelihoods and so on. This moment of uncertainty can surface all kinds of emotions that can dampen the human spirit. We encourage our friends in this time to be listeners to each other. It is a time to strengthen human connections with acts of kindness and solidarity as we live through this shared experience of social distancing.

What we have also experienced time and again is how the human spirit triumphs in the face of adversity. It is also a moment for the Institute to creatively explore how we can be present for the communities we work with during this time.

We implore friends to depend on news relating to the corona-19 pandemic from the World Health Organisation and official statements from their governments and to desist from passing on fake news.

We wish all our friends and their loved ones well as we continue to take care of ourselves and reaching out to others in supporting ways to navigate the corona-19 health crisis.

About Us

The Institute for the Healing of Memories seeks to contribute to the healing journey of individuals, communities and nations. Our work is grounded in the belief that we are all in need of healing, because of what we have done, what we have failed to do, and what has been done to us.
