Dear Friends
My colleagues and I are deeply grateful for the heart-warming generosity and care shown by friends and supporters of the Institute. In response to our two previous fundraising drives, a total of R597 466 has been raised for furnishings and renovations for our new headquarters at 5 Eastry Road.
The renovations were supposed to have started at the beginning of this year. However, the process was delayed due to an objection lodged with our Municipality by a neighbour. The objection has now been withdrawn, so we are pleased that building is able to commence. All going well the second phase work will start in September and be completed by April 2012.
The renovations entail building a boardroom and two additional meeting spaces. However, because of the length of time taken up by the objection, previous quotes had to be updated. We are therefore currently sitting with a funding shortfall of R732 023 for the work.
This fundraising appeal is aimed at those who feel they could still contribute or have additional means to contribute further, as well as organisations who prefer to fund fixed assets. Any contribution, large or small, that you are able to make will be hugely appreciated. If you prefer, you can sponsor a specific item of work or equipment, as listed overleaf.
You, our supporters, make possible the important work of the Institute of Healing of Memories. Without your generosity and faithfulness we would be unable to continue to offer our workshops to individuals and communities desperately in need of healing, dignity and purpose, through which we are together able to make a small but vital contribution to a more peaceful and just future for South Africa and the world. Sincerest thanks to each of you for your ongoing support.
With prayers and best wishes,
Fr. Michael Lapsley, SSM - Director
